How to Make Money With Blogs

One year ago, my father asked me, the young internet entrepreneur, “What’s a blog?” I paused for minute. I had heard the term before … but I couldn’t answer him. I honestly didn’t know.

Over the past few years, blogs have become the new craze of the internet. First it was online diaries, then online communities like MySpace, followed by the personal blog. The types of blogs vary from personal to business to narrative. Some blogs are so popular that they have Google PageRanks of 6 and above (on a scale of 10), and get hundreds, if not thousands of hits a day.

Savvy business people have realized that blogs can be an excellent way to promote themselves, their business, or make easy money. The most popular way that this is done is through Google Adsense. Using this, bloggers are able to sell advertising off of their blog and collect cash just for keeping a blog. Those with very successful blogs are raking in the cash simply off of their Adsense ads. It is very easy and free to start doing this, and many have cashed in, and in big ways. Some blog hosts have even allowed their users to ad Adsense using the same account.

Other people simply keep blogs to get the word out about new products or promotions. A company may keep a blog to keep readers interested in what they have to offer. This is easy and free advertising.

New internet entrepreneurs have gotten their feet wet with blogs by promoting affiliate products and selling advertising.

So what has caused the explosion of the popularity of blogs? First, the obvious potential and flexibility is a selling point. However, the biggest reason that blogs have become so popular is a result of the availability of them. They are free to start and easy to keep up. The most popular of blog hosts, Blogger.com, indexes hundreds of new blogs every single day. Today, anyone interested can keep a blog, for whatever reason.

Some people keep multiple blogs for multiple reasons, or to promote multiple products. In this way, marketers are able to leverage their opportunity to create buzz.

If you are interested in starting a blog, it is easy to start. Locate a free blog host such as Blogger.com, and complete the 5-minute sign up. From there, you can choose a template, import your own HTML, and add Adsense, if you so desire. Within minutes you are up and running and ready to do your thing.

With the ease of use and exceptional potential that keeping a blog provides, it’s incredible that people didn’t tap into this gold mine years ago. If you are creative enough, you can have huge success using this free, easy method of marketing.

Hey , you have a very good blog, its excellent information in its field. You have done a great job, keep doing it for to help, people like Myself. I read many blogs earlier about this topic. But I never found complete information earlier, but your blog is giving real information. I also have several WordPress blogs. And in my experience social bookmarking, article submission and press release submission is way to quickly quickly get my blog posts spidered and am on page one of Google many times in a few hours.

Yes, there are many ways to use a blog these days and for a variety of purposes. I agree they are a great new way for companies to market themselves unobtrusively and to promote any number of things.
One thing, though. I would have to advise against using a free hosting site for blogging. If the host site ever shuts down or gets bought out, it leaves the blogger SOL. Plus, it carries more SEO weight to have a blog addy without “blogger.com” or “wordpress.com” added in at the end. For instance, if a dentist wants to start a dental marketing blog, it would be better to purchase a domain such as “bestdentaloffice” or something to that effect. Search engines also look at expiration of the domain name, with a short time being a negative thing, so it is best to buy up several years of the domain name in advance.
    Just an additional tip!
